The musical, The Secret of Tom Sawyer is another proposal from the Kuajwsko-Pomeranian Music Theatre for children. The play is scheduled for 1 June 2016 at CKK Jordanki, in Toruń.
It is based on Mark Twain’s novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and takes the audience into a world of fun and adventure. Who isn’t familiar with the fascinating tales of Tom Sawyer and his friend, Huckleberry Finn?
The music was written by Toruń based musician, harmonica player and well-known bluesman, Sławomir Wierzcholski (Night Shift of the Blues). Eleven songs are performed in total that reference nineteenth-century, hillbilly style, American folk music. However, there are also elements of blues, country, soul and even some rap in the harmonies, melodies and musical arrangements. The songs are mostly very dynamic and look to draw the audience into rhythmic clapping and sing-alongs. On stage there will be a ballet performance by children from various Toruń cultural centres. The musical is directed by Giovanny Castellianos, Colombian who has been living in Poland for over 20 years.
In one word, it promises to be fun!
